What do you do in case of a water damage
Your house walls are supposed to be solid but sometimes a leaky roof or a flood make your place uncomfortable for living. When the drywall is getting wet you can have a major headache if not repaired as soon as possible.
Since the gypsum boards are paper based they absorb water. And the physical damage is not the worst part of the problem. Wet drywall became a perfect environment for mold spores, especially in attics or basements. And that could be a serious health hazard for everybody who lives in a house.
You could repair the damaged part by yourself if you are handy enough.
You have to cut out the damaged part, make sure that everything completely dries out. Use fans if necessary. Then you have to measure and cut out an equal piece from a new drywall sheet, and install it into the hole. After that you need to tape over, apply a coat of mud, wait till it dries and sand it down. Repeat that process 2 more times, and it is ready for paint.
The easiest way is to find a professional who will take care of the damage, fix it faster and clean everything after. And you'll get your sturdy house back.
